Photographer Sammy Baloji and writer Patrick Mudekereza live and work in Lubumbashi, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Sammy Baloji’s work is regularly exhibited in Africa and Europe, including Paris, Bamako, Brussels, Cape Town, and Bilbao. His first personal exhibit in the United States, A Beautiful Time, shown at New York’s Museum for African Art, is to be exhibited at Washington D.C.’s Smithsonian Museum in 2012.
Patrick Mudekereza is a writer, participates in artistic creation and leads cultural activities.
He is a member of the writers collective Libr’ écrire.
Together, they organize in Lubumbashi the ‘Rencontres Picha’ (meaning ‘image’ in Swahili), a biennial festival on visual arts.
